Discharge Specification B.4 states: ¿Discharge of waste classified as ¿hazardous¿ or ¿designated¿ as defined in Sections 2521(a) and 2522(a) of Chapter 15, is prohibited.¿ These Sections refer to California Code of Regulations Section 66261 of Title 22 for the list of chemicals defined as ¿hazardous¿ in the state of California. Both formaldehyde and phenol are listed under Section 66261, and their use in chemical toilets, recreational vehicles, or waste facility of a vessel was banned by SB 317 in 2019. Both formaldehyde and phenol were detected in effluent samples. |
