Amin Site(s): Mobil Home Park STP Summary This package wastewater treatment plant processes the sewage from a 92-space mobile home complex. The plant is designed to treat an average of 22,500 gallons of wastewater per day. Currently it is receiving 20,000 gallons of wastewater per day. Flow is approximately 27,500 gallons per day on average. Influent passes through a grinder and screen, before entering the aeration chamber. Next phase is a small clarifier. RAS is returned from the clarifier to the beginning of the aeration tank to form a continuous mixed liquor with the influent. Final treated effluent goes to one of two ponds, one of which is usually dry. Waste sludge is hauled away every 60 days to the facility in Temescal Canyon next to El Sobrante Landfill. The plant has a backup generator for emergency, this generator is tested once a month under load. The two ponds freeboard is more than adequate, over five feet. For the last 10 years, this plant has been operated by Mr. Livingston. One more operator has been hired by Creekside Mobil Homes to assist Mr. Livingston. Final effluent is clear, and mixed liquor color is a healthy light brown. Security checks the plant three times per night, at 9 pm, 11 pm, and 2 am. Fencing at the site is still very good. If there were a problem, security would notify Dave, who lives at the park, or wait until Dave arrives in the morning, since there is virtually no influent between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. There is no alarm or secondary containment for the facility in case of overflow from blockage. Mr. Livingston lives at the park year round. Mr. Livingston is uncertified, but he has some training in wastewater treatment processes. There is a shallow groundwater monitoring well onsite. Groundwater depth is presently 11 to 12 feet below ground surface. This facility is meeting the permit requirements at this time and there were no violations to be noted.
