1078136 12/27/2019 UAUTHDISC 3,100-gallon spill of untreated groundwater that reached San Tomas Aquino Creek. The treatment system overflowed at the media equalization tank that had faulty design and operation of level sensors. As a result, the sand filter preceding the equalization tank continued to move process groundwater to it. The Discharger installed a high-high level sensor in equalization tank is connected to autodialer and sand filter pump. Discharger revised emergency procedures to quickly address spills. Discharger reviewed reporting procedures to expedite notifications to the Water Board. Discharger will retrain field personnel to do monitoring response to a spill and perform receiving water sampling. Violation B Report
