The system was immediately shut down on Friday April 17, 2020 upon receipt of analytical results and the RWQCB was notified by email and telephone on Monday April 20, 2020. The granular activated carbon (GAC) was removed from two of the four GAC vessels on May 21 and 22, 2020, and the system resumed operation using a single GAC train (two vessels in series) on May 22, 2020. The concentration of 1,2,3-TCP reported in the compliance sample collected on May 28, 2020 was not detected above the laboratory detection limit of 0.40 µg/L. Zinc, Total Monthly Average limit is 60 mg/L and reported value was 69 mg/L at EFF-001. |
Trihydro reduced flow from one of the four groundwater extraction wells that was suspected of contributing to the elevated zinc concentration in the effluent on September 6, 2019. Total zinc concentration of the effluent reported for the September 11, 2019 sample was 8.2 ug/L, which is under the monthly effluent limitation for zinc. Operation of the well suspected of contributing to elevating zinc concentration will continue at a reduced rate until annual maintenance activities, including well rehabilitation, are completed in October 2019. |
