City staff is continuously exploring ways to improve copper removal by the wastewater treatment plant. City staff is researching possible ways that may aid in reducing copper levels. Violation U eSMR
1123417 12/31/2023 GWAT 2023 sampling of GW2 showed Sulfate levels elevated above the water quality objectives set forth by the Basin Plan. The groundwater Sulfate objective is an annual median of less than 200 mg/L. Paso Robles results showed an annual median of 251 mg/L. The 2022 annual median Sulfate level was 149 mg/L. All wastewater plant effluent discharge levels of Sulfate were well below discharge limits. We believe the 2023 results were impacted significantly by the historic wet weather year. The first Sulfate sampling result prior to the Salina River flooding events was 111 mg/L. We will continue monitoring Sulfate levels in GW2 and anticipate they will return to normal levels throughout 2024 as long as the Salinas River does not experience significant flooding. 1123416 12/31/2023 GWAT 2023 sampling of GW2 showed TDS levels elevated above the water quality objectives set forth by the Basin Plan. The first TDS sampling result prior to the Salina River flooding events was 663 mg/L. We will continue monitoring TDS levels in GW2 and anticipate they will return to normal levels throughout 2024 as long as the Salinas River does not experience significant flooding. Violation U eSMR
1123388 10/31/2023 CAT2 Copper, Total Recoverable Monthly Average limit is 8.8 ug/L and reported value was 13.7 ug/L at EFF-001C. City staff has been taking samples throughout the wastewater treatment plant to see if there a ways to improve copper removal within a process. We are currently using nanobubble technology to try and aid the copper removal in the treatment process. Violation B eSMR
