The unauthorized bypass discharge was due to the historic rains overwhelming the treatment system and flooding the lower parking level. An unknown amount of untreated discharge was released to the nearby storm drain leading to San Leandro Creek. The discharger states that there were no significant anticipated impacts to the receiving water due to the large quantity of water generated during the historic rains. |
AEI states they are working with the Bridge Housing to evaluate system modifications to minimize chance of a similar event. |
