We discovered a failure of UV disinfection on our Ocean's Edge Exotic Species Treatment System. We reported it to R3 and MBNMS. NOAA Enforcement opened and resolved a case file. |
We immediately addressed the burned out UV bulbs and investigated the cause. The cause was determined to be a drop in flow to the system, which cause cycling of the pumps and bulbs, and they burned out much faster than normal. Programming that controls flow to the treatment system was adjusted to prevent cycling. |
