Turbidity Maximum Daily (MDEL) limit is 50 NTU and reported value was 110 NTU. |
"In response to the exceedance, we conducted an investigation at the site and found that the probable cause of this exceedance was an unusual volume of fine particles in the flow stream that did not allow for enough settling time. As a corrective action, the facility will add a turbidity curtain at the last settling pond and as necessary in the other ponds." |

UAUTHDISC |
According to the discharger's 5-day report, the discharge was not directly observed, but likely occurred on December 31, 2022, due to a major storm event. The discharge was likely composed of comingled stormwater and potable water and discharged directly to the San Francisco Bay. From the report, "storm
water flows breached the storm water retention berm, and the flow at this location caused a potable water line to break. Potable water then combined with accumulated storm water and breached a second of the Facility’s storm water retention berms; this comingled potable and storm water is believed to have discharged off-site." |
According to the report, the water main was shut off by a neighbor. The discharger reported that it repaired the damaged storm water retention berms and augmented its holding capacity by building the berms longer and higher. It also added retention berms throughout the site. The potable water line was repaired, and will be moved to a more protected area by January 13, 2023. |
