Type: Category 1 Spill; Other (specify below) caused 30356 gallons of sewage to spill from Manhole at 1010 Bay Stret to Paved Surface |
Other (specify below). Currently we are dealing with an I and I issue and are working on a CIP project to reduce system flows within the sewershed served by the lift station that discharges to this point. Additionally, the District has installed a temporary containment barrier around the Hoover Street lift station to contain overflows in the future that will allow the District to discharge less when the City's system is backed up and surcharging. The contained flow will be metered back into the sewer system once the flows have subsided. A permanent containment barrier is currently in the design phase and the subject of a FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant. |

Type: Category 1 Spill; Pump Station Failure - Power caused 1800 gallons of sewage to spill from Pump Station at Edgewood Sewer Lift Station to Surface Water |
Other (specify below). The District is getting the transfer switch of the generator inspected to identify the point of failure in the system. We are also going to adapt generator testing procedures so staff has to observe one full pump cycle before moving on |

Type: Category 1 Spill; Other (specify below) caused 35600 gallons of sewage to spill from Manhole at King Salmon to Paved Surface |
Other (specify below). As part of the District’s response to the recent SSO events in King Salmon caused by King Tide flooding, several corrective actions are underway or being actively planned to minimize the likelihood and impact of future events. The District has initiated a capital improvement project that includes raising the lid of one of the primary sewer lift stations in King Salmon by five feet to reduce vulnerability to sea level rise and tidal inflow. Additionally, a backup generator is being installed at the same location to ensure uninterrupted pump operations during storm-related power outages, which are common during the winter season. These infrastructure improvements are designed to bolster system reliability under extreme weather conditions. In conjunction with these efforts, the District is preparing to replace all non-sealed manholes in the King Salmon area with gasketed, bolted, watertight covers to prevent inflow during flood events. |

Type: Category 1 Spill; Flow Exceeded Capacity (Separate Collection System Only) caused 21750 gallons of sewage to spill from Manhole at Hoover, Park, and North Street to Other (specify below) |
Plan Rehabilitation or Replacement of Sewer. On 12/31/24 District installed new pump to increase flow capacity by 500 GPM. The installation of this pump was part of the District's current 24/25 CIP program, but the installation of the pump was moved ahead of schedule as a result of this SSO event to prevent the potential of a future spill. In April the District will be upgrading and rehabilitating the rest of the Hoover lift station to increase flow capacity through the system which will further reduce the risk of future SSO's. The District is also currently working on a grant funded project to create a containment barrier around the Hoover Lift station which will enable the recovery of up to 300,000 gallons in the event of an SSO. |
