The mechanical plug was unseated from the 8 inch stub sewer pipe and became lodged in the outgoing pipe of the manhole. caused 2850.0 gallons of sewage to spill from Manhole;Discharge observed seeping from the concrete collar of the manhole. The manhole lid was bolted on to prevent vandalism and tampering. at 3627 Eureka Way to Drainage Channel; The spill exited through the cement manhole collar flowed down the hill approximately forty feet to a heavily vegetated drainage channel. The vegetation was cut back to determine the furthest point influenced by the spill. It was dammed off with sandbags and the discharge was returned by pump to the collections system.. Surface water body affected (Un-named Tributary to Jenny Creek). |
Cleaned-Up;Mitigated Effects of Spill;Contained all or portion of spill;Restored flow;Returned Portion of Spill to Sanitary Sewer System;Other Enforcement Agency Notified. ;In response to the spill contaminated vegetation was removed. The vegetated channel was blocked with sand bags and affected water was pumped to the collection system. 5000 gallons of water was used to clean the site and drainage channel.
