Type: Category 1 Spill; Fats, Oil and Grease (FOG) caused 1320 gallons of sewage to spill from Manhole at 1836 El Camino Real to Drainage Conveyance System that discharges to surface water,Street/Curb and Gutter (2 3),Paved Surface |
Post Spill CCTV,Adjusted Schedule/Method of Preventive Maintenance,Enforcement action against Fats, Oil, and Grease (FOG) source. The sewer mains in this area have been added to our post-spill hotspot list where locations are revisited more frequently for additional flushing. A post-spill CCTV was also performed the following day and no needed repairs were identified. FOG is determined to have been the cause for the spill, corroborated by the reporting party's information of a couple of FSE (food service establishment) locations in the two blocks between the spill appearance and the intersection of Roosevelt and El Camino. City staff provided a list of 3 possible FSE locations to Silicon Valley Clean Water, the agency used to carry out FOG inspections; the list was a compilation of locations provided by the reporting party at 1836 El Camino, looking into business licenses for that area, and doing an on-site audit for the 1700 and 1800 blocks of El Camino. To date, SVCW has carried out FOG inspections on 6 locations with reports of grease traps being in compliance. |
