Type: Category 1 Spill; Rainfall Exceeded Design, I and I (Separate Collection System Only) caused 74400 gallons of sewage to spill from Lateral Clean Out (Private),Upper Lateral (Private),Manhole at W Harris & Central Ave to Surface Water |
Other (specify below). Engineering is looking into increasing the size of the mains in the area or creating a overflow line to handle any increase in volume during a storm event. Along with these efforts the City is working to replace compromised private sewer laterals and perform smoke testing to find illicit connections that might be allowing storm water to inundate the sanitary sewer system. The City is also going to eliminate the private lateral that was the largest appearance point during this particular spill event. We plan on completing this step during construction season this year. |
