The source of the elevated Zinc is still under investigation. The following work has or will be completed as a part of this investigation:
o Treatment System Performance sampling was conducted on February 20, 2024 and results indicated that the system is being operated per design and manufacturers specifications.
o Historical data and operations were evaluated by WaterTectonics (manufacturers of the treatment system) on February 28, 2024 which indicated that the system is being operated per design and manufacturers specifications.
o Previous permit and current permit effluent limitations were reviewed. Current permit effluent limitations were decreased slightly for Copper, and Lead and Zinc limitations were added. Original design of system did not include Lead nor Zinc, as they were not effluent limitations in previous permit. System capabilities are being reviewed and applicability of current effluent limitations.
o WaterTectonics will provide scope to run a benchtop treatability study to determine if additional treatment steps are available.
o WaterTectonics will provide scope to run pilot processes to determine if technologies are required and are available for current system. |
