Total Organic Carbon (TOC), Percent Removal Monthly Average limit is 85 % and reported value was 76 % at M-001. |
A thorough review of the analyses, sample handling; plant processes including abundance and structure of the microflora in the secondary processes indicate that the marginal loss of efficiency by approximately 11% was solely attributable to the very dilute influent TOC.
The plant continues to monitor the same processes and is expecting to maintain compliance continuously. If there is a repeat, then management will be informed to review our I/I efforts more rigorously. |

After detailed reviews of laboratory workflow performed on November 1, 2022 revealed a lack of sampling for Silica and Urea during the month of October 2022; and a follow up inspection of our laboratory¿s archived samples also confirmed that no extra sample was archived for that month, we concluded that there was no resource available to perform the mandated analyses. |
Laboratory management in consultation with the QA/QC Chemist implemented the following controls:
a. A monthly sample of preserved and unpreserved samples will be archived beginning November 15, 2022;
b. The QA/QC Chemist modified her schedule ¿cheat sheet¿ for compliance sampling control to include sampling reminders for the missed samples |

Total Organic Carbon (TOC) Monthly Average (Mean) limit is 20 mg/L and reported value was 21.63 mg/L at M-001. |
A formal review of the exceedance is to be convened with Plant Management, meanwhile this exceedance is considered a consequence of the ongoing operational changes to respond to increasingly shrinking flow volumes and attempts to optimize the efficiency of the Trickling Filter/Solids Contact Tanks at the facility. |

Total Organic Carbon (TOC) Monthly Average (Mean) limit is 20 mg/L and reported value was 20.5 mg/L at M-001. |
The following steps have been taken:
Plant management requested a review of year-long analyses, and recommendations for improvement from the designated contracting firm. We are currently awaiting the results and recommendations for review:
Operations implemented additional treatment steps since the last compliance report and this has resulted in the reduced severity of the current violation, as well as produced the ongoing concentrations of <16.0 mg/L in the month of October.
Those repairs seem to have registered modest improvements in the biological floc at the secondary stage, and therefore no additional changes are contemplated at this time. |

Total Organic Carbon (TOC) Monthly Average (Mean) limit is 20 mg/L and reported value was 24.1 mg/L at M-001. |
The calculations which derive the monthly average values were rechecked for arithmetic and /or transcription errors and were found to be consistent with the standard protocols. The resulting violations were discussed with the System Manager in view of the ongoing effort and engagement with an Engineering firm in an effort to develop appropriate responses to the challenges. Any
communications with the consultants will be reviewed promptly for feasibility of application.
Further developments will be communicated to the Regional Board before or within the next monthly
report. |
