Our permit language does not provide clear guidance as to next steps when a detection occurs during accelerated monitoring so we utilized EPA guidance adopted from newer versions of Central Coast permits in an effort to be proactive and take the correct steps for forward. As such we ceased accelerated monitoring for S. capricornutum and initiated a Toxicity Reduction Evaluation (TRE) for this species. As there was no toxicity observed in the first accelerated test with C. dubia, we would continued with two more rounds of testing. If toxicity is not observed in the next two rounds, then accelerated monitoring would be completed and the discharger can return to routine monitoring. If any of the next two rounds of testing do observe toxicity, then accelerated monitoring would cease and C. dubia would be added to the TRE. At the time of this report all accelerated monitoring demonstrates compliance however we are waiting final sample set from the second round to know for sure. We will update the Regional Board and EPA once that data is available. Violation B eSMR

1061802 06/25/2019 CAT1 Ammonia, Unionized (as N) Daily Maximum limit is 0.025 ug/L and reported value was 0.152 ug/L at M-001. Pond 2 section C is being clean manually by CWS. This involves lowering Pond 2 level, isolating pond effluent & pumping sludge out with trash pumps to Pond 2 section A. This is an arduous process but does help greatly. CWS is attempting to increase the MLSS with the hopes that the additional biomass (and AOB population) will help maximize NH3 removal from Pond 1 (SBR Pond). Additionally, we've directed all Pond 1 effluent to the outlet piping of Pond 2 with the goal of not putting nitrified effluent into Pond 2 which contains higher levels of NH3. This seems to helped greatly with our effluent NH3 values Violation B eSMR

Additionally, we are acid cleaning the effluent filters on the same frequency. Violation B eSMR
