WRP 4 experienced a monitoring deficiency in August 2026. Physis Environmental Inc. (Physis) is currently working on reobtaining their ELAP certification after their ELAP certification lapsed in February 2026. While Physis was working to obtain their ELAP certification, WRP 4¿s 4,4¿-DDT monthly sample was to be subcontracted to Weck Laboratories Inc. The 4,4¿-DDT sample was collected and submitted to the laboratory. Due to an oversight during the sample login process, the August 4,4¿-DDT sample was analyzed by the incorrect laboratory, Physis, rather than Weck. By the time the oversight was discovered, the sample had already been processed and was unable to be subcontracted out to Weck. The August 4,4¿-DDT sample result was none-detected (ND), and all QA/QC data passed. |
CVWD is actively working with Physis to precent this oversight from occurring again. Methods include increasing communication and requesting analysis updates. |

Upon notification of the result, Operators thoroughly cleaned and flushed the sample port. Concurrently, an investigation was conducted to identify any operational abnormalities. No abnormalities were identified and to date, no additional exceedances for E. coli have occurred. |

The March 4,4¿-DDT sample was split and analyzed by two different laboratories, Physis Environmental Inc. and WECK Laboratories Inc. CVWD was notified via E-Mail on February 28, 2026, by Physis Environmental that their ELAP certification had lapsed and that Physis Environmental is currently working to reobtain their ELAP certification. To ensure a sample for 4,4¿-DDT was analyzed by an ELAP certified laboratory, a portion of the March sample was sent to WECK Laboratories for analysis. WECK Laboratories lowest reporting limit for 4,4¿-DDT is 5 ng/L. Both results for 4,4¿-DDT were none-detected (ND) at both reporting limits. To date, Physis Environmental has been the only laboratory identified by CVWD that has been able to meet the reporting limit of 0.59 nanograms per liter (ng/L) requirement. Until Physis Environmental is able to reobtain their ELAP certification, CVWD will continue to send the monthly 4,4¿-DDT sample to WECK Laboratories for analysis. |
CVWD will continue with the process of finding another laboratory that can meet the reporting limit for future samples. Until another laboratory can be identified, CVWD will continue to send the monthly 4,4'-DDT sample to WECK Laboratories for analysis. |
