Zinc, Total Recoverable Monthly Average (Mean) limit is 47 ug/L and reported value was 83 ug/L. |
To better evaluate the sampling process and sample transport activities, Haley & Aldrich has completed/plans to complete the following:
- Additional confirmation of the initial sampling results by Level IV data package review and reanalysis of the initial samples.
- Split sampling using two different labs
- Analysis of an influent sample for dissolved zinc in addition to total recoverable zinc
- Source evaluation within the treatment system and extraction wells
- Statistical analysis of historical analytical data
- Mitigation/maintenance or additional treatment (e.g., filtration), if necessary.
The discharger is also states they are investigating potential causes of the exceedance and sources of zinc to select the appropriate corrective actions. |

Xylenes, Total Maximum Daily (MDEL) limit is 0.5 ug/L and reported value was 1.1 ug/L. |
The discharger will enhance its treatment system field quality assurance and quality control program for monitoring as there has been several trace detections of xylenes in past samples (not for this one). The trip blank for this event did not have detections of xylenes. The discharger will ask its lab to analyze trip blanks immediately before its other samples to observe potential contamination. Blind equipment blanks will be collected and analyzed on a monthly basis to evaluate potential introduction of VOCs during sampling activities. The discharger will also review alternative laboratories that have just as sensitive analytical methods. |
