UAUTHDISC |
Discharge of untreated groundwater associated wtih repair of leaking pipe feeding treatment system. This was a miscommunication among parties acting on behalf of discharger. Total discharge for event (including 2/28/2020 leaky pipe event) is 22,967 gallons. Receiving water monitoring shows no impacts of VOCs nor TPH above effluent limits. |
The Discharger identified 5 solutions that will prevent similar discharges to the storm drain and miscommunication among stakeholders.
1. Discharger replaced leaky pipe.
1. Discharger will obtain a storm drain cover that will plug storm drain inlet in case of spill or overflow.
2. Discharger will install auxiliary pipe within Building 5 containing sump pumps so that it can be quickly connected to a hose to convey discharge directly to treatment system.
3. Discharger will replace all 3 sump pumps withing Building 5.
4. Discharger will create a new communication/action plan to coordinate actions among stakeholders. |
