Considering that the concentration of total chlorine residual in the incoming City water received at the Genentech facility are higher than the allowable 6-month median and the allowable daily maximum, Genentech plans to petition the San Diego Regional Water Quality Control Board (Board) to re-determine both limits and/or to account for the concentration of residual chlorine in City water and apply a corresponding reduction credit to Genentech's reported discharge. Genentech will reemphasize that no chlorine is being added at any steps of the water softening or purification processes. |
