This water statement is for water diverted out of Gold Lake, Meadow Valley area of Plumas County. Prior to 1880, there was a dam and ditch carrying water to the main ditch systems providing water source for hydraulic mining in the Spanish Creek drainage. In or about 1905 the ditch from Gold Lake was abandoned and the water flows down its natural drainage through Jacks Meadow Creek to Silver Creek, upstream from the Spanish Ranch pipeline point of diversion. There is no longer any controlled release of water from Gold Lake. What is not diverted to Spanish Ranch remains in the Silver Creek watershed to benefit fish and wildlife.

This water right consists of the natural outflow from Gold Lake, which flows down Jacks Meadow Creek into Silver Creek upstream from the Spanish Ranch point of diversion. Gold Lake is located within a federally designated Wilderness Area. Installation of measurement devices in the area would likely be a violation of federal law, and access is by foot only; no mechanized tools. Most of the water coming from Gold Lake remains in the watersheds, benefiting fish and wildlife.
