Type of Diversion No Diversion
Comments This water right was ordered by the State to cease during the drought of 2015. No water was diverted, but I am reporting water left in Spanish Creek for Fish and Wildlife Enhancement purposes. With the better winter of 2015 -16, it is anticipated that the "normal" diversion from Spanish Creek will resume for 2016, and will be reported at the appropriate time.

Description of additional technology used None
d. Who installed your measuring device(s)
  • Other: Ranch Manager with decades of experience
e. Make, model number, and last calibration date of your measuring device(s) N/A
f. Why direct measurement using a device listed in Section 1 is "not locally cost effective"
  • No power at diversion point
Explanation of why use of devices and technologies listed in Section 1 are "not locally cost effective" Diversion of water from this location is minimal, and is used to irrigate the Westerly-most portion of the 115-Ac pasture on Spanish Ranch. Most of the water goes to dust abatement for trucks accessing the gravel pit mine located at the West end of Spanish Ranch. No diversions occurred in 2015 due to low flows in Spanish Creek.
g. Method(s) used as an alternative to direct measurement
  • Pipe/trajectory method
Explanation of method(s) used as an alternative to direct measurement No diversions in 2015
6. Purpose of Use
Fish and Wildlife Preservation and Enhancement Fish & Wildlife Enhancement
7. Changes in Method of Diversion
No water was drawn from Spanish Creek in 2015 from this riparian diversion. Water was left in the stream for Fish and Wildlife Enhancement. However, the 2016 year is much better for water flows and it is anticipated that normal diversions will be occurring for 2016. Improvements in monitoring diversions are being planned.
