Conservation of Water
8. Are you now employing water conservation efforts? Yes
Description of water conservation efforts The District has worked with landowners and farmers within the place of the use of this License to implement good water management and good farming practices including but not limited to laser leveling of fields, varietal changes, and crop shifts. The quantity of water conserved through the actions taken by individual landowners and farmers has not been determined. In addition, the District operates an extensive tail water recovery and re-circulation system and has implemented strict polices limiting spills from fields during the irrigation season. Absent the District's re-circulation this additional quantity water would have been diverted to meet the demands within the District. The District also has a USBR approved water conservation plan. The Licensee idled 5,916 acres due to a reduced contract supply which resulted in a reduction in the water needs within the place of use. Because the water savings due to all of these measures occurred mainly during the 2014 curtailment period, the quantity of water conserved has not been included in this report.
9. Amount of water conserved
Water Quality and Wastewater Reclamation
10. During the period covered by this Report, did you use reclaimed water from a wastewater treatment facility, water from a desalination facility, or water polluted by waste to a degree which unreasonably affects the water for other beneficial uses? No
11. Amount of reclaimed, desalinated, or polluted water used
Conjuctive Use of Groundwater and Surface Water
12. During the period covered by this Report, were you using groundwater in lieu of available surface water authorized under your license? Yes
13. Amounts of groundwater used 930.6 Acre-Feet
Additional Remarks
Diversions under this License were limited in 2014 due to the drought and curtailments by the SWRCB. The quantities are allocated and reported under the Licensees water rights based the priorities and limitations of the rights. Quantities shown include only water that was diverted or credited under this License during times the License was not curtailed. The place of use is also served under License Nos. 7206 (A000640), and 7207 (A000892), Permit No. 21133 (A030813), Statement of Water Diversion & Use No. S020960, Contract 14-06-200-856A-R-1 with the USBR, and an Agreement dated June 2, 1953, supplemented July 16, 1954, among certain Districts along the Colusa Basin Drain, commonly referred to as the Five-Party Agreement. In addition, during the curtailment period lands were served by groundwater and recirculated tail water. The amount of groundwater used identified under Item 13 reflects only the quantity that was pumped and could be credited under this License during the period the License was not curtailed. The District participated in a water transfer program with the USBR in 2014 under which additional groundwater was pumped and served to the place of use in lieu of surface water deliveries under Contract 14-06-856A-R-1.
