Description of water conservation efforts |
The District delivers water to the lands with its service area under Licenses 7205, 7206, and 7207 (Applications 462, 640, and 892.) The District has worked with landowners and farmers within the places of the use of these Licenses to implement good water management and good farming practices including but not limited to laser leveling of fields, varietal changes, and crop shifts. In addition, the District operates an extensive tail water recovery and recirculation system and has implemented strict polices limiting spills from fields during the irrigation season. The District also has a USBR approved water conservation plan. The quantity of water conserved through the actions taken by individual landowners and farmers has not been determined. The quantity of conserved water shown below is the total quantity of water re-circulated for re-delivery within the places of use. Absent the District's re-circulation this additional quantity water would have been diverted to meet the demands within the District. It is not possible to distinguish how much of the re-circulated water originated under the individual licenses; therefore this quantity of conserved water is identified under each of the District's Licenses identified above.
